Cloudland football is staying in Class A.

The ‘Lander program had mulled a move to 2A to join the ranks of Hampton, Happy Valley and Sullivan North, but have ultimately decided to stay status quo in Class A. Cloudland administration confirmed the decision on Tuesday.

With this TSSAA reclassification period, the ‘Landers had the option to move up a class to help with travel. The move would have only affected football.

The Highlanders have won two straight region titles in Class A, and will remain the odds on favor for 2017. CHS will most likely have a couple of new schools in the region. Concord Christian, a current Region 1-A foe, is going to Division II.
