Cloudland broke into the win column in a big way.
The ‘Landers rolled to a 36-12 victory over Cosby in non-conference action on Friday night. With the win, Cloudland improves to 1-1 on the season.
The first half was all ‘Landers.
Cloudland got on the board just over three minutes into the game as Coy Laney scored on a two-yard run to give CHS a 6-0 lead.
Seth Birchfield pushed the Cloudland lead with a three-yard touchdown in the closing minutes of the opening quarter, and Chase Shell added the two-point conversion.
On the ensuing kickoff, Birchfield picked up a fumble and took it to the house for a 29-yard scoop and score, and then added the two-point conversion to give CHS a 22-0 lead after one complete quarter.
The second quarter saw a lightning delay halt action for just under an hour.
When play resumed, Cloudland continued to hold the momentum as Birchfield scored on a short touchdown to give CHS a 28-0 lead at the half.
The third quarter saw Caleb Sluder break free for a three-yard touchdown for the ‘Landers, and Shell hit Gage McKinney for the two-point conversion. Several younger players got into the game for Cloudland from that point.
Birchfield finished with 17 carries on 105 yards, while Sluder had 51 yards on 12 carries. McKinney averaged over five yards a carry as he tallied 48 yards on nine attempts. Shell was 1-for-2 passing.
The Cloudland defense limited Cosby’s Hunter Workman to 9-of-17 passing for 98 yards.
