The Cloudland basketball teams put a nice bow on a week of sweeps.

Both the ‘Landers and Lady ‘Landers rolled to wins over KACHEA on Tuesday night as the CHS boys captured a 79-46 victory while the Lady ‘Landers steamrolled to a 57-13 win.

After the ‘Landers held a 12-10 lead after the first quarter of the boys’ game, Cloudland got a spark from Brinkley Mull and Colby Birchfield to outscore the Wildcats 19-5 in the frame. That gave CHS a 31-15 lead at the break.

From there, it was all Cloudland.

Birchfield led the way with 22 points, while Preston Benfield tallied 18 points. Jason Potter and Jesse Potter had nine points apiece.

For the CHS girls, it was smooth sailing from the opening tip. Cloudland took a 14-4 lead in the first quarter, and extended it to 25-10 at the break. The Lady ‘Lander defense limited the Lady Wildcats to just two points in the third quarter and one point in the final quarter to erase any thoughts of an upset.

Payton Johnson tallied 17 points, while Shian Strickland had 15 points. Trinity Vines and Abbey Gouge had six points apiece.
