Cloudland clinched the Region 1-A title in a big way.

The ‘Landers rolled to a 38-8 victory at North Greene on a rainy Friday night in Baileyton. CHS finished the region slate with a 4-0 mark and 9-1 overall heading into the playoffs.

Cloudland had previously clinched the Region 1-A No. 1 seed for the upcoming playoffs, and will host Greenback in the first round next week.

Against the Huskies, the outcome was never in doubt.

The Cloudland defense forced North Greene off the field on the game’s opening drive. CHS went to work and Caleb Sluder scored a one-yard run to cap an eight-play drive.

Maverick Simerly caught a Chase Shell pass as the ‘Landers took an 8-0 lead into the second quarter.

Cloudland extended the lead early in the second quarter when Gage McKinney caught a Shell pass for a 20-yard score.

CHS extended the lead to 22-0 at the half when Seth Birchfield scored on a five-yard run late in the quarter. Sluder added the two-point conversion.

While the ‘Lander defense continued to stymie the NG offense, the Cloudland offense continued to have no issue in the wet conditions. Shell scored on a tough 26-yard run with Birchfield adding the two-point conversion in the third quarter.

Birchfield broke free for a 70-yard touchdown early in the fourth, and Shell found Simerly for the two-point conversion to cap the CHS scoring.

Tyler Sanches had the lone NG score late in the game.

Birchfield finished with 314 yards on 31 carries with two touchdowns, while Sluder had 33 yards on four touches.

Shell was 3-of-7 passing for 60 yards. McKinney had 36 receiving yards on two catches.

As a team, Cloudland outgained NG 424-122.
