Cloudland storms to sweep over Sullivan North

Cloudland made sure their return to the court counted on Friday night.

The ‘Landers rolled to a 70-39 victory over Sullivan North, while the Lady ‘Landers stormed to a 63-22 victory over the Lady Raiders. It was the first games for Cloudland since Nov. 30.

In the varsity opener, Cloudland took control early.

The Lady ‘Landers saw five players score as CHS took a 12-4 lead after a quarter of play. Stacia Wilson tallied six second-quarter points and Trinity Vines added five as Cloudland extended the lead to 14 points at the break.

The Lady ‘Lander defense left no doubt in the third quarter as CHS held North scoreless, while Vines erupted for 10 points. In all, Cloudland scored 23 points in the third stanza and never looked back.

Vines tallied 15 points, while Wilson scored 14 points. Gracie Freeman added seven points to the CHS cause.
In the varsity boys game, it was much the same for the hosts.

Hunter Shell opened the game on a roll as he scored 13 points in the opening eight minutes, and Robert Leeper added six points of his own to push CHS to a 21-10 lead. The ‘Landers added four points to their advantage in the second quarter to maintain a 35-20 halftime advantage.

The third quarter saw the CHS offense continue to stay hot as the ‘Landers doubled up the Raiders. From there, Cloudland cruised to the district victory.

Shell finished with a team-high 18 points, while Leeper had 13 points. Bentley tossed in 10 points. Josh Blair and Dillon Johnson had seven and six points, respectively.
