Cloudland sweeps Providence in nonconference action

The Cloudland varsity teams picked up a sweep on Tuesday night in nonconference action.

The ‘Landers used a strong second quarter to pick up their third straight victory with a 67-46 win over Providence Academy, while the Lady ‘Landers rolled to a 58-18 victory over the Lady Knights.


In the boys’ game, the ‘Landers took control in the first half.

After the teams played to a 13-13 in the first quarter Elijah Blair and Hunter Shell got hot to power Cloudland to a 37-24 halftime lead. In the second half, CHS kept the Knights at bay to secure the win.

Shell led the ‘Landers with 21 points. Blair scored 19 points in the game, while Bentley Gilbert scored eight points in the game.

In the girls’ game, the Lady ‘Landers jumped out early and never looked back on Tuesday night.

Cloudland raced out to a 15-2 over the first eight minutes and turned the advantage into a 32-3 halftime lead.

Gracie Freeman had 11 points to pace CHS, while Jasmine Birchfield and Kenzie Birchfield had 10 points apiece. Heaven Caraway scored five points in the win.
