Cloudland upends Cosby

Cloudland kept on playing on Friday night.

The Lady ‘Landers turned up the defensive pressure in a 54-29 victory over Cosby on Friday night in the Region 1-A quarterfinals. Cloudland advances to play South Greene on Monday at 6 p.m., at Chuckey-Doak High School.


Cloudland’s defense set the tone early forcing Cosby into multiple possessions in the early going. That allowed Cloudland to take a 15-3 advantage into the second quarter.

The pressure continued as the Lady ‘Landers forced more turnovers (15) then allowed points. CHS held a 26-9 lead at the half.

The Lady Eagles closed the gap to 11 points at the start of the third quarter. However, Cloudland quickly rebounded and pushed the lead to 21 points going to the final eight minutes.

Lisa Ellis led the way with 17 points, while Johanna Johnson scored nine points in the game. Shian Strickland tallied eight points. Trinity Vines added six points.

Jada Baxter and Khrystena Norton had six points each to lead Cosby.
