There will be a new leader of the Cloudland football program.
Cloudland announced that Glenn White will no longer be the head coach of the ‘Lander program due to a realignment of the coaching staff effective immediately. Athletic Director Scott Potter will take over the reins on an interim basis.
The school confirmed the move on Tuesday morning.
“I am grateful for Coach Scott Potter’s willingness to step in and help this team in an unusual and unexpected coaching change,” Cloudland principal Richard Church said in a press release. “These student-athletes deserve to be placed in trusted hands to finish out this football season and I am confident this is the best decision.
White will return to his role as an assistant coach for the remainder of the season. It is expected that the current staff will also stay in place.
White was in his first season with the Cloudland program after replacing Mike Lunsford who resigned last season.
The ‘Landers have had a rocky start to the season as CHS enters Friday’s game at Unaka with a 1-4 mark. Cloudland, however, is 1-0 in Region 1-A play with two contests remaining.
Potter has coached previously on Cloudland staffs and was the head coach of the junior high program this season.
