For the first time in seven years, Elizabethton claimed the District title.
The Cyclones pulled away to take a 68-54 victory over Tennessee High in the District 1-3A Championship game at Sullivan East Tuesday night. It is the program’s first District title since 2019.
Elizabethton will open the Region 1-3A Tournament on Saturday at home as they will host a quarterfinal matchup.
After the Vikings led 14-10 after the first quarter, Elizabethton outscored Tennessee High 17-8 to take a 27-22 lead at the half.
EHS continued to hold the momentum in the second half as the Cyclones took a 40-28 advantage into the fourth. Tennessee High closed the gap in the fourth, but Elizabethton was able to secure the win.
Evan Chambers was named the tournament MVP and led the way with 22 points. Hudson Pate added 20 points, while Jackson Buckles added 10 points. Nathan Bailey finished with nine points.
Chambers was joined by Pate, Bailey, and Buckles on the All-Tournament team.
