Cyclones Come Up Short Against Top-Seed Tennessee High

The Elizabethton boys’ basketball team was unable to keep pace in the semifinals.

The Cyclones fell 71-48 to the top-seeded Tennessee High in the District 1-3A tournament at Tennessee High on Saturday night. Elizabethton moves into Tuesday’s consolation game against Unicoi County.

It was a back-and-forth battle in the opening quarter as the frame ended in an 18-18 stalemate. The Vikings used a run to take a 38-30 advantage into the half.

Elizabethton continued to battle in the second half but was unable to answer another Viking run as Tennessee High maintained a 58-43 lead into the final quarter.

Zach Wallin had 13 points to lead EHS, while Justin Whitehead scored 11 points. Andrew Barnett scored nine points. Hudson Pate added eight points.

Collin Brown had a game-high 31 points for Tennessee High.
