The Elizabethton football continued their hot start on Friday night.

The Cyclones cruised to a 37-0 Region 1-4A win over Grainger County at Citizens Bank Stadium. EHS improves to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 1-4A play.


Elizabethton jumped out early.

Cade Maupin capped off an impressive opening drive for Elizabethton with a five-yard run. The Jaxton Holly extra point gave the Cyclones a 7-0 lead early in the game. The teams traded possessions as EHS maintained the advantage going to the second quarter.

In the second quarter, Bryson Rollins hit Parker Hughes for a 10-yard touchdown to extend the Elizabethton advantage. The Cyclone defense, who limited Grainger to just 19 offensive yards in the first half came up big on the next drive with a three-and-out and then recorded a safety after the snap went over the punter’s head.

The Cyclones made quick work after the free kick as Rollins found Hughes for a 42-yard touchdown. After another quick Grainger drive, Rollins and Hughes connected for the third time with a five-yard touchdown to give EHS a 30-0 lead at the half.

Rollins capped off the scoring in the third quarter with a 12-yard run.

The sophomore Rollins finished 14-of-18 passing for 202 yards and added 48 yards rushing. Hughes had three touchdowns on five catches with 76 yards.

Zach Hartley finished the night with three catches for 49 yards, while Maupin had 41 yards on nine carries.

Holly finished the night 5-for-5 on extra points.
