The Elizabethton baseball team came up just short of their ultimate goal.

The Cyclones dropped a 7-3 decision to Riverside in the Class AA Baseball Tournament after making it to the final four teams in the state.

Elizabethton found themselves in an early hole as the Panthers plated two runs in the top of the first and another in the top of the second.

The Cyclones, however, answer back as Logan Estep hit a home run over the left field fence to close the gap to 3-1. Riverside added two runs to their lead in the top of the third.

After the Panthers plated two runs in the sixth, EHS made a late run as they tried to rally in the home side of the seventh.

Estep accounted for his second run of the day after taking advantage of a Riverside error, and Jacob Mullins pushed Matthew Dailey across the plate as EHS closed within 7-3. However, EHS was unable to close any further.

Dailey and Estep each had a hit apiece for the Cyclones.

On the mound, Lawson Wagner was handed the loss as he allowed two earned runs on four hits in three innings of work. Ethan Eggleston and Karson Dillard also pitched for the Cyclones.
