Elizabethton And Hampton Remain Ranked In State Poll, HV Receives Votes

Elizabethton and Hampton remain ranked, while Happy Valley received votes in this week’s TSWA/USA Today Network Prep Poll.

In Class 4A, the Cyclones climbed two spots to No. 8 after defeating Volunteer on Friday. Elizabethton tallied 44 points in the poll and was 19 points behind No. 7 Haywood.

Alcoa climbed the top spot with all 20 first-place votes, while Springfield and Greeneville held down No. 2 and No. 3. Anderson County and Upperman rounded out the top five.

In Class A, Hampton fell two spots to No. 8 after last week’s loss to Happy Valley. The Bulldogs garnered 49 points and were just eight points behind No. 7 Dresden.

McKenzie and South Pittsburg held firm at No. 1 and No. 2, while Coalfield and Oliver Springs moved up a spot to No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Clay County checked in at No. 5 after being ranked at No. 10 last week.

In Class 2A, Happy Valley received votes in this week’s poll. HV earned 14 points and was just five points behind No. 10 Lewis County.

Marion County and Milan are ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, while East Robertson, Peabody, and Huntingdon rounded out the top five. Two teams – Bledsoe County and Lewis County – entered the poll after not being ranked last week.
