Friday Round-up: Bulldogs, Lady Bulldogs Take Wins In Return To Van Huss-White Gymnasium

Hampton 81, Johnson County 42 (boys)
Hampton celebrated the first game inside Van Huss-White Gymnasium in 702 days in a big way.

After taking a 22-16 lead into the second quarter, the Bulldogs went on a 20-0 run to take full control and a 45-19 lead into the half.

Bryce Fagan had 21 points to lead Hampton, while Colby Clark had 18 points. Tuff Robinson had 13 points. Chase Davenport added 11 points.

Landin Lipford scored 13 points to pace Johnson County.

Prior to the game, Hampton Head Coach Ned Smith was honored as the court was named in his honor.

Unaka 67, University High 51 (boys)
The Rangers used a big second half to take a key district road game.

Unaka erased a 28-25 halftime deficit by outscoring the Bucs 15-6 in the third and continued to extend the lead in the fourth.

John Hardin led Unaka with 22 points. Tristan Good and Zack Wallin had 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Aiden Walsh added eight points, and Cooper Smith finished with seven points.

UH was led by Knox Poston, who had 22 points.

Elizabethton 83, Sullivan East 58 (boys)
The Cyclones jumped out early and never looked back.

Elizabethton took a 21-6 lead after a quarter of play and rolled to a 48-18 halftime advantage.

Nathan Bailey had 18 points to lead Elizabethton, while Justin Whitehead and Evan Chambers added 17 points each. Jackson Buckles tossed in eight points.

Sullivan East was led by Eli Hubbard’s 18 points.

North Greene 50, Cloudland 44 (boys)
The ‘Landers battled back from an early deficit but came up short.

North Greene took a 12-2 lead midway through the first quarter and pushed the lead to 25-10 early in the second.

Cloudland, however, battled back to trim the lead to 25-19 at the half.

CHS took the lead early in the third, but NG answered and kept Cloudland at bay.

Uriah Jarrett had 11 points to pace Cloudland. Grayson Cole finished with 10 points, and Gavyn Shell scored eight points.

Hampton 47, Johnson County 44 (girls)
The Lady Bulldogs held off Johnson County to win in their return to the Hampton campus.

After the Lady Longhorns held a 10-5 lead after a quarter of play, HHS used a quick run to take the lead early in the second. HHS led 20-17 at the half.

The Lady Bulldogs pushed the lead out to 12 points at the end of the third, but the Lady Longhorns used a late run to close within a possession. Hampton, however, was able to hold on for the win in the final moment.

Daisy Parks led Hampton with 12 points. Gracie Jenkins scored 11 points, and Hannah Smith finished with 10 points.

Mackenzie McClain scored 26 points to lead Johnson County.

Cloudland 35, North Greene 26 (girls)
The Lady ‘Landers limited North Greene to pick up a crucial district win at home.

Cloudland took an 11-5 lead at the half and maintained a 24-10 advantage at the half.

Makinna Shell led Cloudland with 13 points. Abriella Jones scored seven points.

Eva Leonard led North Greene with eight points.

Elizabethton 79, Sullivan East 46 (girls)
The Lady Cyclones scored early and often.

EHS jumped out to a 28-13 lead after a quarter of play and pushed the advantage to 52-20 at the half.

Addison Bunn had 19 points to lead Elizabethton. Jamira Smalls scored 18 points, while Reagan May added 11 points.

Rylee May and Sydney Minton scored 10 and eight points, respectively.

Unaka 65, University High 15 (girls)
The Lady Rangers rolled to a district win.

Michelle Shields scored 22 points to lead the way. Arianna Sutherland had 12 points, while Katlyn Dugger added 10 points.

Emma Linkous scored 11 points for the Lady Bucs.
