Hampton Advances Past Unaka In District 1-A Baseball Tournament

In an elimination game, Hampton took care of business methodically.

The Bulldogs limited Unaka to take a 10-0 victory over the Rangers in a District 1-A Baseball Tournament elimination game at David Crockett on Tuesday afternoon.

Hampton advanced to take on North Greene in an elimination game on Wednesday night at 6p with the winner advancing to the District Championship game as well as the Region 1-A tournament.

North Greene lost 18-0 to UH in the Winner’s Bracket final on Tuesday.

“All postseason wins are meaningful,” Hampton Head Coach Nicholas Perkins said. “We wake up on Wednesday morning knowing we are in a big game with North Greene, knowing we must play well.”

The Bulldogs used a steady approach on Tuesday night.
Hampton took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and then plated two runs over the next four innings to take full control.

Morgan Lyons was 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI, while Conor Jones added two hits and a RBI. In all, nine Bulldogs recorded hits in the game.

Michael Duvall picked up a hit for the Rangers.

On the mound, Lyons picked up the win as he allowed just one hit over three innings with five strikeouts. Logan Lewis allowed just six earned runs over five innings for Unaka.
