Hampton looked to celebrate Homecoming in a big way with an upset of state-ranked Class 5A David Crockett, but the Pioneers had other plans.

The Bulldogs came up short despite a spirited effort in a 44-0 loss to the No. 5 ranked team in Class 5A. With the loss, Hampton falls to 2-3 overall.

Crockett jumped out to a 14-0 lead, and never looked back. Hampton trailed 31-0 at the half.

Lane Potter recorded a 53-yard kickoff return for Hampton, while Matt Hughes blocked a field goal. Aidan Vines also recovered a fumble.

Crockett limited the HHS attack to just 39 yards of offense in the game.

Hampton returns to action next Friday as Sullivan North will visit JC Campbell Stadium.

Hampton Junior Brianna Ward was named Homecoming Queen 2018.
