Hampton wasn’t going to be denied.

The Bulldogs rolled to a 30-7 victory over Oneida in the Class 2A State Quarterfinals on the road to advance to the State Semifinals.

Hampton is set to host Trousdale County at JC Campbell Stadium next Friday night.

After the teams traded possessions to open the game, Hampton took advantage of excellent field position to open their second drive.

Conor Jones scored on a short one-yard run and then added the two-point conversion to push the Hampton lead to 8-0 with just over three minutes left in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs pushed the lead out to 14-0 early in the second when Jones scored his second touchdown of the night – this one from a yard out.

On the next Oneida drive, the Indians moved into Hampton territory, but the Bulldog defense held strong and forced a punt – that rolled to the Hampton 1.

The Hampton offense, however, didn’t miss a beat.

Hampton drove 99 yards and scored when Dylan Trivette found Jones on a wide receiver pass for a 13-yard touchdown pass.

Morgan Lyons added the two-point conversion as Hampton took a 22-0 lead into the half.

In the third quarter, the teams swapped three-and-outs before the Indians scored when Caden Rector found McLorne Love for an 18-yard touchdown with 2:36 left to close the Hampton lead to 22-7 after three quarters.

The Bulldogs, however, erased any thought of a comeback.

Morgan Lyons capped an 80-yard drive with an 11-yard run. Jones added the conversion to push the lead to 30-7.

From there, the Hampton defense held strong to preserve the win.

Levi Lunsford had 128 yards on 18 carries for the Bulldogs, while Lyons finished with 89 yards on 14 carries.

Jones had 11 carries for 54 yards. As a team, Hampton outgained Oneida 381-200.
