Hampton Runs Past Unaka In Monday Night Clash

The Hampton running game stole the show at Unaka on Monday night.

The Bulldogs recorded 396 yards on the ground to take a 58-18 victory over county foe Unaka in a Monday night contest on Stoney Creek.

Hampton, who celebrated Senior Night prior to the game, struck early.

The Bulldogs raced down the field and scored in six plays as Dom Burleson scored on a five-yard run. HHS took a 14-0 lead into the second quarter as Peyton Townsend scored on a one-yard run, and Isaiah Belcher added the two-point conversion.

The Rangers battled back as Micah Gray caught a 16-yard pass from Connor McKinney for a touchdown.

After Burleson scored his second touchdown of the night from 10 yards out, McKinney found Fuller for a 52-yard touchdown as Unaka trimmed the Hampton lead to 22-12.

The Bulldogs, however, pulled away the rest of the way.

Maddux Wilson scored on a 17-yard run and Kaden Jones added the two-point conversion. Peyton Townsend added a 39-yard touchdown and a 42-yard touchdown to the Hampton cause to push the lead to 42-12.

Kaden Jones ended the first-half scoring as he broke free for a 20-yard touchdown, while JJ Cable caught a pass from Wilson for the two-point conversion to give Hampton a 50-12 halftime lead.

After a scoreless third quarter, Wilson found Cable for a 10-yard touchdown to increase the Hampton lead, and Kuhn added the two-point conversion.

On the last play of the game, McKinney found Fuller for a 53-yard touchdown as the Rangers fought to the final whistle.

Burleson led Hampton with 176 yards on 17 carries, while Townsend had 110 yards on six carries. Wilson and Jones added 27 and 25 yards, respectively, on two carries apiece.

McKinney finished the game 9-of-19 passing for 199 yards. Fuller had four catches for 126 yards, while Gray had four catches for 63 yards.
