The upset-minded Lady Bulldogs were unable to recover from an early North Greene run.
Hampton dropped a 61-41 decision to top-seed North Greene on Saturday in the District 1-A tournament semifinals. The Lady Bulldogs move into Monday’s consolation game where they will face either Cloudland or Unaka.
After North Greene opened the game on a 6-0 run, Nicole Guy proved a spark for the HHS offense with a pair of buckets. Hampton was unable to close the gap as the Lady Huskies held an 18-8 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
Hampton continued to battle but was unable to keep back with a torrid offensive attack in the second quarter. The Lady Bulldogs ended the half on a half-court 3-pointer from Madi McClain to cut the HHS deficit to 16 at the break.
In the second half, Hampton made runs at North Greene but was unable to close within a possession despite a hard-fought effort.
McClain led Hampton with 13 points. Guy scored seven points, and Hazen Brummit and Linsey Jenkins had six points each.
