Hampton took care of business on Friday night in different ways.
The Lady Bulldogs pulled away in the second half to take a 59-34 over West Greene to claim the District 1-2A regular season title, while Caden Davis hit a buzzer-beater 3-point to lift the Bulldogs to a thrilling 51-48 win over the Buffaloes as well as to claim a share of the District 1-2A title.
In the girl’s game, the Lady Bulldogs left no doubt in the second half.
Hampton held a 13-8 lead after a quarter of play and maintained a 19-14 lead at the half.
From there, it was all Hampton.
The Lady Bulldogs outscored WG 22-6 in the third quarter and never looked back to cruise to the win.
Hannah Smith had 24 points to pace Hampton, while Brea Hicks had 13 points.
In the boys’ game, it was a back-and-forth battle from the start.
HHS led 13-10 after a quarter of play and pushed the lead to 29-23 at the half.
Hampton opened the third quarter with a run, but West Greene answered with a run of their own to tie the game at 40-40 after three complete quarters.
Neither team was able to get away from the other throughout the fourth quarter setting the stage for Davis’ game-winner.
Chase Davenport scored 19 points, while David finished with 11 points. Jayden Nave had 10 points.
