Elizabethton was unable to answer a second-half run on Friday night.
The Lady Cyclones saw the season come to a close with a 63-50 loss to Grainger in the Region 1-3A quarterfinals at Grainger. With the loss, Elizabethton’s season comes to a close.
After Grainger took an 11-4 lead to open the game, the Lady Cyclones outscored the Lady Griz 12-3 over the second part of the first quarter to take a 16-14 advantage after eight minutes of play.
The teams went back and forth in the second stanza as Jamira Smalls scored eight second-quarter points for EHS, and the game went into the half tied at 32-32.
In the third quarter, Grainged was able to take advantage of a couple of steals to take a 49-43 lead into the final quarter.
Elizabethton kept battling but was unable to go on a run as Grainger was able to secure the win.
Smalls finished with 19 points to lead Elizabethton, while Peyton McGee added eight points. Rylee May scored seven points.
Kayleyn and Reagan May had six and five points, respectively.
Adison Hayes had 19 points to lead Grainger.
