Lady Cyclones, Cyclones take district wins

The Lady Cyclones and Cyclones resumed conference play in a big way.

Elizabethton picked up a varsity sweep over Sullivan South in their first Three Rivers Conference matchup of 2017 inside Treadway Gym on Tuesday evening. The Lady Cyclones picked up a 58-35 victory, while the Cyclones pulled away for a 72-52 win.


In the girls game, Elizabethton jumped out to a 20-8 lead and the Lady Cyclones extended the lead to 35-14 at the break. From there, it was all Elizabethton.

Haley Burleson tallied 13 points to lead the way. Brittany Campbell recorded 10 points, while Kaitlyn Light had seven points. Loran Campbell added six points.

In the boys game, Elizabethton shook off a slow start to take a 17-12 lead in the first quarter. Michael Robinson and Alex Norwood helped power the Cyclones to an eight-point lead. A 13-2 run to open the second half put Elizabethton squarely in control.

Robinson had a game-high 33 points, while Norwood had 20 points. Corey Russell scored eight points.
