Elizabethton was unable to shake off a slow start in Saturday’s semifinals.
The No. 2 Lady Cyclones dropped a 56-47 decision to No. 3 Tennessee High in the District 1-3A semifinals on Saturday at Tennessee High. Elizabethton moves into Monday’s consolation game where they will face off against Unicoi County.
In the first quarter, the Lady Cyclones were limited to just four points as Tennessee High took an 11-4 lead after a quarter of play.
EHS battled back by outscoring the Lady Vikings 15-11 in the frame as Elizabethton pulled within 22-19 at the half.
Tennessee High, however, answered and pushed the lead back out to seven points after three complete quarters. The Lady Cyclones kept fighting to pull within a possession but were unable to get in front of the Lady Vikings in the closing minutes.
Reagan May finished with 14 points to lead Elizabethton. Jasy Shell scored 11 points, while Adrian Heading and Jamira Smalls finished with seven points apiece.
Addie Wilhoit led Tennessee High with 18 points.
