The Region 1-2A Girls’ Soccer Champions are clad in orange.
Elizabethton upset Greeneville with a 2-1 victory in the Region 1-2A Championship at Citizens Bank Stadium on Thursday evening. With the win, Elizabethton will host Gibbs in the Sectional round on Saturday.
Greeneville, who had won every Region 1-2A Championship since 2009, will travel to Anderson County for the sectional round.
After Greeneville opened the scoring in the second minute of the match with a Matea Gray goal, Elizabethton answered in the ninth minute as Vella Nave capitalized with a breakaway goal.
The match was tied until the 50th minute when Izzy Lewis hit a penalty kick into the bottom left corner for the goal.
From there, Elizabethton was able to keep Greeneville off the scoreboard to claim the Region 1-2A championship.
