Cloudland survived and advanced on Friday night.
The Lady ‘Landers captured a 47-37 victory over Washburn on the road in the Region 1-A quarterfinals, With the win, Cloudland advances to the semifinals where they will face Unaka on Monday night at West Ridge with a berth in the Region 1-A Championship game and a substate berth on the line.
Points were hard to come by on Friday night in the opening half.
Makinna Shell scored four points in the opening quarter as CHS held a 9-8 lead after a quarter of play. The teams went back and forth in the second quarter, and Washburn took a 16-15 lead to the half.
In the third quarter, Cloudland outscored the Lady Pirates 17-12 in the frame as Makenzie Street hit a 3-pointer to lift EHS to a 32-28 lead into the final quarter.
The Lady ‘Landers saw Shell and Abriella Jones score seven and five points, respectively, in the final quarter to help CHS to secure the win.
Shell led Cloudland with 16 points, while Street had 13 points. Jones finished with 10 points.
Ameila King, Hannah Williams and Ebony Hill had nine points apiece to lead Washburn.
