The Lady ‘Landers rallied for a win on Thursday.
Cloudland erased a 6-1 deficit to take a 7-6 victory over South Greene on Thursday in Roan Mountain.
After SG took a 2-0 lead in the opening frame, Cloudland was able to get a run back in the home side of the inning as Savannah McCoury scored off a passed ball.
South Greene added two runs in the second and two in the fourth to take a 6-1 lead into the fifth.
The Lady ‘Landers battled back in the fifth.
Eowyn McCoury and Regan Blair scored after S. McCoury put the ball in play, and Willow Bennett drove S. McCoury across the plate to cut the CHS deficit to two with no outs. Peyton Preswood plated two runs with a deep knock to left field as Caroline Hughes – who was running for Bennett – crossed home plate. Turbyfill scored on the next pitch to tie things up.
Cloudland took the lead as Khloe Johnson drove Preswood across the plate with a single.
The Lady ‘Landers were unable to keep the runs going but took a 7-6 lead into the sixth.
From there, South Greene was unable to get a base runner in the sixth and seventh as Cloudland secured the win.
S. McCoury was 2-for-2 with two RBI, while E. McCoury and Turbyfill had two hits apiece. Johnson and Bennett each had a hit and an RBI.
S. McCoury picked up the win as she allowed just two earned runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts in five innings of work. Turbyfill allowed no runs on no hits in two innings of work.
