Lady ‘Landers roll in D-1A quarters

Cloudland hit cruise control on Friday night.

The Lady ‘Landers advanced with a 74-38 victory over University High on Friday at the District 1-A tournament at Daniel Boone. Cloudland will take on Hampton in the semifinals on Saturday at 7 p.m.


The Lady ‘Landers had to battle back from a slow start. The Lady Bucs jumped out to an 8-3 lead over the first five minutes. Shian Strickland, however, pulled Cloudland to the first lead of the game. After Ari Ramsaren regained the lead with a trey, Megan Lunsford and Stacia Wilson hit shots as Cloudland took a 15-11 lead into the second quarter.

The Lady ‘Landers took control for good in the second quarter.

Strickland jumpstarted a 12-2 run over the first three minutes of the period. DonRae Taylor and Strickland continued to keep the Cloudland offense moving as CHS took a 40-18 advantage into the half.

The second half was all Cloudland.

The Lady ‘Landers scored nine unanswered in the opening minutes of the third and extended the advantage to 56-28 heading into the fourth. Cloudland was able to get younger players in the mix in the final eight minutes as the outcome was never in doubt.

Strickland had 21 points to lead the Lady ‘Landers. Wilson had 14 points, while Taylor had nine points.Vines had eight points.

Terka Sadilova had 15 points to lead University High.
