Lady Rangers, Cyclones set to open state tournament play Tuesday

The Elizabethton baseball team and the Unaka softball team look to make some noise in Murfreesboro this week.

The Cyclones and the Lady Rangers open play in the TSSAA Spring Fling on Tuesday. Both tournaments are double elimination.


Elizabethton is set to open the Class AA Baseball tournament at Blackman on Tuesday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m., Eastern time. It is the second straight year that Elizabethton qualified for the state tournament.

The Cyclones will take on Nolensville – who enters the tournament with a 21-14 record – with the winner advancing to take on the winner between Pigeon Forge (27-7) and Covington (30-7) on Wednesday.

The Lady Rangers are making their third straight state appearance and are set to open the Class A Softball tournament at 6:30 p.m., Eastern time on Tuesday, May 21 against Summertown.

The Lady Eagles are 34-5-1 entering the tournament, and the winner will take on the winner of Gibson County (23-18-1) and Sale Creek (29-8) on Wednesday.

The Class A State Tournament is set to be played at Starplex #4.
