Cloudland broke into the win column in a big way on Friday night.
The ‘Landers raced out to a 35-0 first-half lead and never looked back in a 48-0 win over Hancock County at Orr Field.
CHS opened the scoring early as Landon Barnette broke free for a 52-yard touchdown run. Kevin Cabrera added the extra point. Cloudland took a 14-0 lead into the second quarter after Grayson Cole added a short touchdown run and a Cabrera PAT.
Tanner Hughes sparked the Cloudland defense early in the second quarter as he recorded a safety. Barnette and Cole added touchdowns of 58 yards and 55 yards, respectively, for CHS, and Braydon Hughes had a pick-six to give CHS a 35-0 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Gavyn Shell caught a 79-yard pass from Jordan Hodges. Hodges added a seven-yard touchdown run to call the CHS scoring.
Cole had 185 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns, while Barnette had 131 yards on eight carries and two scores. Hodges was 2-for-4 for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, T. Hughes had two interceptions while B. Hughes had a defensive score.
