The Cloudland boys’ basketball team was unable to shake off a slow start on Friday night.
The ‘Landers dropped a 61-39 decision to Sullivan North in District 1-A action inside Sonny Smith Gymnasium.
The Lady ‘Landers picked up a forfeit win as the Lady Raiders had limited roster numbers available for tonight’s game.
For the ‘Landers, they had to battle from an early deficit.
Hunter Shell recorded four points in the first quarter, but CHS was limited to eight points in the first eight minutes as the Raiders took a 19-8 lead into the second quarter. Cloudland saw Conner Birchfield and Shell each score five points in the second stanza. However, the ‘Landers were unable to cut into the Sullivan North lead at the half.
The second half was much the same as CHS continued to battle, but was unable to mount a rally.
Shell paced Cloudland with 14 points, while Birchfield tallied 13 points. Elijah Blair finished with six points.
