Cloudland was unable to mount a rally on Tuesday night.
The ‘Landers dropped a 77-58 decision to University High in the District 1-A consolation game at West Ridge. Cloudland is set to open the Region 1-A tournament on Saturday at Cosby.
Bryce Birchfield hit back-to-back shots and Uriah Jarrett added a 3-pointer to give CHS an 8-6 lead midway through the first. Andrew Cole, however, hit a pair of sparks to spark a 13-0 UH run before Grayson Cole hit a shot to snap the run.
The teams traded points to end the quarter as UH held a 22-12 lead after a quarter of play.
UH grabbed momentum to open the second quarter with a 10-3 run. Nick Caraway and Cass Turbyfill added Cloudland buckets to trim the lead to 41-19 at the half.
The ‘Landers kept on battling.
Caraway and Jarrett hit early shots, and Jarrett scored nine straight as CHS slowly cut into the UH lead.
The Bucs maintained a 60-42 lead after three complete.
Devin Balado opened the scoring for Cloudiand in the fourth, and CHS was able to trim the deficit to 15 points. However, they were unable to continue the run.
Jarrett led Cloudland with 19 points in the game, while Birchfield had 15 points. Caraway added eight points. Balado scored seven points.
Cole had a game-high 20 points for the Bucs. Mason Croley scored 12 points, while Brady Weems finished with 11 points.
