Cloudland took care of business in the first border battle of the season.
The ‘Landers captured a 56-30 victory over Avery County in the boys’ game, while the Lady ‘Landers cruised to a 54-25 victory in the girls’ contest.
In the boys’ game, the ‘Landers got a quick start.
Cloudland took a 16-6 lead in the first quarter and maintained the advantage most of the way.
A quick run in the final quarter secured the win for the homestanding ‘Landers.
Bentley Gilbert led the way with 13 points, while Hayden Shell and Elijah Blair had 12 points apiece. Conner Birchfield tossed n 10 points.
In the girls’ game, the Lady ‘Landers were clicking on all cylinders.
Cloudland stormed out to a 19-7 lead, and then held a 28-14 advantage at the half.
The Lady ‘Landers outscored the Lady Vikings 36-11 in the second half to leave no doubt.
Gracie Freeman led the way with 15 points, while Kenzie Birchfield had nine points. Karah Fields tallied eight points, while Jasmine Birchfield and Heaven Caraway had six points apiece.
