Cloudland boys’ basketball picked up a statement nonconference win on Tuesday night.
The ‘Landers battled to a 77-63 victory over Class AA Unicoi County inside Sonny Smith Gymnasium.
Malachi Benfield led the way with 21 points, while Robert Leeper tallied 20 points in the win for Cloudland.
The ‘Landers used eight first-quarter points from Blake Beam to take a 20-19 lead in the first quarter, and maintained a two-point advantage at the half.
In the third quarter, Leeper scored 12 Cloudland points to help extend the lead. The ‘Landers doubled-up the Blue Devils in the final eight minutes to secure the win.
Beam finished with 17 points. Dillion Johnson and Jordan Coffey and 10 and 9 points, respectively.
