A special performance captured our Best of Carter County Sports Performance of the Year.
Hampton’s Wyatt Lyons struck out 17 Northview batters while allowing just four hits to propel the Bulldogs to their first substate appearance in program history.
The win over the Cougars advanced Hampton to the Region 1-A Championship in addition to the substate round.
Lyons was masterful on the mound especially from the second inning to the seventh.
Hampton took a 1-0 lead in the sixth, but the Cougars tied it up in the home side of the frame. Lyons and company, however, wouldn’t be denied as they plated the winning run in the top of the seventh.
