Monday Round-up: Bulldogs Take Huge District Win; Lady Bulldogs, Lady Cyclones Pick Up Wins

Hampton 85, Chuckey-Doak 66
The Bulldogs used relentless pressure to pick up a key district win.

After Chuckey-Doak jumped out to a 17-7 lead in the first quarter, Hampton went on a 10-0 run to tie things up at 17-17 after a quarter of play. The Bulldogs kept their foot on the gas in the second and pushed the lead to 42-26 by the break.

The Black Knights pulled within 12 late in the third, but Hampton was able to keep them at bay for the win.

Geno Carrico had 22 points, while Michael Anspaugh finished with 20 points. Hayden Campbell added 14 points.

Tuff Robinson scored 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Science Hill 56, Elizabethton 49
The Cyclones were unable to answer a strong Hilltopper third quarter.

After the Cyclones took a 29-25 lead into the locker room, Science Hill used a quick run to take a 46-38 lead after the third.

Elizabethton battled back to pull within three points in the fourth but was unable to get back in front in the closing minutes.

Jackson Hobbs had 17 points to lead the way, while Andrew Barnett scored 15 points. Hudson Pate added 10 points.

Girls
Elizabethton 42, Science Hill 34
The Lady Cyclones picked up a back-and-forth win on Monday night.

The two teams traded shots through the first half with Science Hill taking a 19-16 lead at the half. Elizabethton, however, used a big third quarter to take a 37-25 lead at the half.

From there, the Lady Cyclones were able to secure the win.

Jamira Smalls had 11 points, while Marlee Mathena scored nine points. Michelle Shields ended the game with eight points.

Hampton 74, Chuckey-Doak 48
The Lady Bulldogs used a 12-1 run late in the second quarter and never looked back.

After the Lady Black Knights trimmed the lead to one point, Hampton went on the run to take a 35-24 halftime lead.

HHS continued to hold the momentum in the second half as the Lady Bulldogs outscored Chuckey-Doak 22-13 in the quarter.

Hannah Smith had 16 points to lead the way for Hampton, while Macy Henry had 15 points. Piper Helle scored 14 points.

University High 28, Happy Valley 22
The Lady Warriors were unable to complete a fourth-quarter rally on Monday night.

Marcida Moore had 14 points to lead the way for Happy Valley.
