Elizabethton 5, Volunteer 4
The Cyclones held on to knock off Volunteer on Monday evening.
After Elizabethton built up a 5-0 lead through four innings, the Falcons put three on the board in the sixth and then held a Volunteer rally in the sixth to just one run.
Kaleb Hambrick was 3-for-4, while Peyton Johnson had three RBI and went 2-for-4 at the plate. Ethan Meier was 2-for-2.
On the mound, Gage Treadway picked up the win as he allowed just three earned runs on three hits with nine strikeouts in just over five innings of work.
Hampton 5, Holston (Va) 3
The Bulldogs picked up a nonconference victory on Monday.
Chance Point was 3-for-4, while Jonathon Greenwell went 2-for-3 to lead the Bulldogs at the plate. Caleb Royston, Collin Morgan, McKinley Kuhn, Josh Whitson, and Kyler Lewis each added a hit.
On the mound, Whitson picked up the win as he allowed just one earned run on four hits with five strikeouts.
Royston had a strong pitching effort as well as he struck out two and allowed just one hit in two innings of work.
Softball
Unaka 7, West Ridge 2
The Lady Rangers outhit West Ridge 14-4 to take a nonconference victory.
Alana Parsons went 4-for-4 to lead the way, while Kendall Barton added three hits. Kendall Bare and Jill Faust each added two hits to the Unaka cause.
Barton had three RBI, while Kylie Blevins added two RBI.
In the pitching circle, Trinity Bowers allowed just one earned run on four hits to pick up the win in a complete-game effort.
Elizabethton 20, Gate City (Va.) 10
A pair of seven-run innings propelled Elizabethton to a Monday win.
With the game entering the bottom of the fourth with Gate City holding a 10-6 advantage, the Lady Cyclones plated seven runs in the home side of the frame and then added seven more to take a run-rule victory.
Elizabethton had 21 hits in the game as Maely Ingram went 5-for-5 with six RBI, while Maddie O’Quinn had four hits.
Ember Jensen, Kenidy Harris, Madisun Pritchard, Mollie Johnson, Cheyenne Poiroux, and Emma O’Quinn each had two hits.
Pritchard picked up the win in the circle as she allowed no earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts.
