Monday Roundup: Cloudland takes two wins on road

The Cloudland girls basketball team had a last second answer.

The Lady ‘Landers picked up a 36-34 victory at Rockwood on Monday night as Donrae Taylor hit a lay-up with two seconds remaining.

CHS went on a 15-4 run during the second quarter to take a 24-16 lead into the half, but Rockwood repaid the favor with a 12-2 run in the third.

Taylor had a team-high 10 points, while Shian Strickland tallied nine points. Stacia Wilson added seven points. Johanna Johnson and Megan Lunsford had six and four points, respectively.

Cloudland 51, Rockwood 41 (boys)
Preston Benfield scored 15 points to lead Cloudland to a 51-41 victory over Rockwood on Monday.

The ‘Landers took a six-point lead into the half and maintained it much of the way.

Jason Potter added 12 points for the ‘Landers. Dillon Johnson, Hunter Shell and Malachi Benfield had five points apiece.
