Cloudland baseball walked it off in style on Thursday night.
Bo Wilson hit a shot up the middle that drove in Brayden Whitaker and Brendon Polechio to lift the ‘Landers to a 4-3 walkoff victory over Bethel Christian on Thursday in Roan Mountain.
The ‘Landers struck in the second as Will Polechio scored when Caden Gwyn put the ball in play to give CHS a 1-0 lead.
The Crusaders tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third, but Walker Gouge scored after W. Polechio was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Bethel, however, scored a run in the fourth and another in the top of the fifth to take a 3-2 lead.
CHS was unable to drive a run in the bottom of the fifth or sixth.
After a 1-2-3 inning for the Cloudland defense, the CHS offense went to work for the walkoff win.
Austin Simerly, Whitaker, Gouge, and Wilson each had a hit, while W. Polechio and Gwyn each had an RBI.
Whitaker struck out seven batters in 3.1 innings of work while allowing just one earned run on one hit, while Gouge struck out seven and allowed no earned runs on no hits.
