Elizabethton came up short in a pair of games on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Cyclones fell 62-54 to Tennessee High, while the Cyclones were unable to hold off a Viking rally as they fell 55-45 inside Viking Hall.
In the girls’ game, Elizabethton battled back from an early 13-5 Tennessee High run to tie the game before the Lady Vikings added late free throws to take an 18-16 lead into the second. The teams swapped shots in the second quarter until EHS used a 7-2 run to take a 30-29 lead into the half.
The third quarter saw Tennessee High slowly extend the lead before a late EHS run closed the gap to 48-44 after three complete quarters. Elizabethton kept battling in the final quarter but was unable to rally past the Lady Vikings.
Rylee May scored 16 points to lead the Lady Cyclones, while Reagan May scored 13 points. Addison Bunn and Jamira Smalls scored eight and seven points, respectively.
Addie Wilhoit led Tennessee High with 31 points. Addi More scored 13 points.
In the boys’ game, Elizabethton jumped out to an early lead and maintained a 14-10 advantage after eight minutes of play.
The Cyclones used an 8-2 run to push the lead out early in the second, but the Vikings answered with a 10-2 run to close the gap.
Elizabethton led 26-25 at the half.
In the third quarter, the teams traded shots as EHS maintained a 40-39 advantage. Tennessee High, however, outscored the Cyclones 16-5 in the final quarter to take the win.
Evan Chambers and Justin Whitehead led Elizabethton with 12 points apiece. Nathan Bailey scored nine points, while Jackson Buckles and Hudson Pate had six points apiece.
