Unaka was able to take a district win on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Rangers used eight runs to pull away and take an 11-1 victory over Hampton in District 1-A action.

Unaka took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as H. Taylor scored off a ball put in play by Noelle Collins.

The Lady Bulldogs, however, limited the damage with great defense to end the frame, but was unable to match the UHS offense in the home side of the inning.

Hailey Gilman and Kailey Wilson scored for Unaka in the top of the second to push the lead to 3-0 after two complete innings.

Hampton’s defense was able to strand a pair of Unaka runners in scoring position to hold UHS scoreless in the inning. Rachel Fair got on board for Hampton in the third but was unable to cross home plate to get a run on the board.

That set the stage for Unaka to roll off eight runs in the top of the fourth.

Hampton, however, continued to fight and battle.

Macy Henry scored in the bottom of the fifth off an Alley Shore single. However, Hampton was unable to mount a rally to extend the game.

Kendall Bare led Unaka at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance, while Trinity Bowers, Alana Parsons, Gilman, and Wilson each added two hits.
Fair, Shore, and Henry each recorded a hit for Hampton.

Bowers picked up the win in the pitching circle for Unaka.
