Rangers, Lady Rangers roll past Hancock

Unaka was on a mission from the opening tip.

The Rangers and Lady Rangers rolled to wins over Hancock County on Thursday evening on Stoney Creek. The Unaka boys cruised to a 70-51 win, while the Lady Rangers scored early and often in a 74-20 win.

For the Unaka boys, Colton Chambers scored 31 points in the game. Joe Searfoss added 21 points for the Rangers – who led 16-7 at the end of the first quarter and 31-17 at the half. Kyler Lewis also reached double-digits with 11 points.

The Rangers left no doubt in the second half by outscoring the Indians 39-34.

The Lady Rangers also jumped out and never looked back. Katlyn Burrow led the way with 14 points for Unaka – who held a 22-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Rangers continued to power the way with a 44-13 halftime lead. Unaka outscored the Lady Indians 40-7 in the final two quarters.

Katlyn Weaver added 13 points, while Hannah Tipton scored 12 points in the game.
