Unaka left no doubt on Saturday night.
The Rangers rolled to an 80-43 victory over Washburn in the Region 1-A quarterfinals on Stoney Creek.
With the win, Unaka advances to take on Cosby in Tuesday’s Region 1-A semifinals at West Ridge with a berth in the Region 1-A Championship as well as a substate berth on the line.
It was all Unaka on Saturday.
John Hardin scored 12 points in the opening quarter to power UHS to a 24-11 lead after a quarter of play. The Rangers continued to have the momentum in the second as Unaka outscored Washburn 21-7 in the frame to take a 45-18 halftime lead.
Any thoughts of a Washburn comeback were quickly erased as seven Rangers scored in the third and UHS outscored the Pirates 28-10 in the frame.
Hardin led Unaka with 22 points. Austin Lambert finished with 13 points, while TJ Good scored 11 points. Mason Wilson and Rylan Crabtree had eight and seven points, respectively. Aiden Walsh also scored seven points.
Matthew Harville scored 17 points to lead Washburn.
