Saturday Round-up: Lady Rangers finish fourth at Unicoi; Cyclones fall in walkoff

The Cyclones were unable to hold on for a thrilling win as the Patriots plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh for a walk-off win.

EHS took a one-run lead into the home side of the seventh after a three-run homer by Evan Carter. The Patriots, however, had the answer down to their last out.
Corey Russell went 2-for-3, while Evan Perkins was 2-for-4. Ethan Eggleston and Ryan Wetzel each added a hit.

On the mound, Tre Shoun got the starting nod and a no decision as he went 4.2 innings and allowed just two hits and was dinged with two unearned runs.

The Lady Rangers finished fourth in the annual NFS Tournament in Erwin on Saturday.

Against Sullivan Central, Madison Ensor was 2-for-3, while Katlyn Weaver, Sarah Elliott, Tayla Potter and Sidney Markland each recorded a hit. Corey Scheuttler struck out 11 Lady Cougars in the pitching circle.

In the game against Johnson County, five Lady Rangers each recorded a hit as Lilly Kiser drove in two runs with Shanks also pushing a run across homeplate. Scheuttler allowed just four hits with eight strikeouts for Unaka.

Against host Unicoi County, the Lady Blue Devils added two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the win. Weaver and Ensor had two hits apiece.

Scheuttler allowed just one earned run on three hits in the game.
