Slagle Powers Elizabethton Past Northview

Elizabethton’s passing game was on point Friday night.

The Cyclones saw quarterback Rhett Slagle go 21-for-21 passing to lead Elizabethton to a 49-20 win over Northview Academy on the road in Region 1-4A action.

With the win, Elizabethton improved to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in Region 1-4A action.

It was all Cyclones early.

CJ Mathes opened the scoring with a 14-yard touchdown run. Slagle hit Zach Wallin for a 33-yard touchdown and added a 40-yard strike to Justius Wallin. EHS took a 28-0 lead with a 15-yard touchdown to Justin Whitehead.

After Northview got on the board, Slagle scored on the ground as the Cyclones held a 35-12 lead at the half.

Slagle found Wallin for a second touchdown of the night, and Slagle added a five-yard run to account for the second-half Elizabethton scoring.

Slagle ended the game 21-of-21 passing for 282 yards, and he also added 74 yards on the ground. Z. Wallin had seven catches for 118 yards.

Elizabethton finished with 418 yards of total offense.
