Scottsboro (AL) 54, Elizabethton 44
The Lady Cyclones were unable to make a late run in the first game of the Doc Maples Holiday Classic at Tennessee High.
Elizabethton ended the half on a quick run to pull within 24-23 at the half, and the teams swapped the lead multiple times in the third. Scottsboro, however, used a late run to take the win.
Peyton McGee, Reagan May, Kaylen Nave, and Jamira Smalls each had nine points for Elizabethton.
Unaka 49, Cosby 44
The Lady Rangers pulled away for a win in the fourth quarter.
It was a back-and-forth battle from the opening tip as Cosby led 9-8 after one and Unaka maintained a 21-20 lead at the half. The second half was much the same as the fourth quarter started tied at 33.
UHS was able to jump out and hold off Cosby for the win in the final eight minutes.
Michelle Shields had 21 points for Unaka, while Katlyn Dugger had 13 points.
Coalfield 50, Cloudland 42
Cloudland was unable to hold off a second-half charge from Coalfield at the 5StarPreps Classic.
After the first quarter ended in a 9-9 stalemate, the Lady ‘Landers were able to take a 23-15 halftime advantage. Coalfield, however, answered by outscoring Cloudland 22-7 in the third to take a 37-30 lead heading to the fourth. Cloudland kept fighting but was unable to make a late run.
Makenzie Street scored 14 points to lead the way for Cloudland. Makinna Shell added 13 points, while Abby Clawson finished with 10 points.
Boys
Elizabethton 60 KACHEA 42
The Cyclones used a strong second half to take control and the win at hte FCA Hoops Classic at West Ridge Thursday.
The Cyclones led by two at the half, but outscored KACHEA 35-19 in the second half to roll to the win.
Hudson Pate and Nathan Bailey each had 12 points for the Orange and Black.
Hudson Smith had nine points. Andrew Barnett and Justin Whitehead had eight points apiece.
Cosby 68, Unaka 66
A late Unaka rally came up short on Thursday.
After Cosby led 56-47 after three quarters of play, the Rangers stormed back to tie the game at 66-66 in the closing seconds. The Eagles, however, were able to secure the win on the other end.
John Hardin had 32 points for Unaka. Mason Wilson scored 18 points.
