Elizabethton 55, Cosby 39 (boys)
Elizabethton erased a slow first quarter and rolled to a 55-39 victory over Cosby in nonconference action.
After the Eagles took a 16-10 lead into the second quarter, Nico Ashley and Eric Wilson sparked the EHS offense to jump back to a 28-21 halftime lead. A balanced third-quarter maintained the advantage and the Cyclones left no doubt in the final eight minutes.
Ashley led the way with 15 points, while Wilson tallied 12 points. Parker Hughes scored 10 points for the Elizabethton cause.
Cosby 62, Elizabethton 48 (girls)
The Lady Cyclones were unable to keep pace with a Cosby in nonconference action.
The Lady Eagles slowly pulled away from EHS with a 33-22 lead at the half. EHS had stayed within three points at the end of the first quarter.
Kaylin Shell had 18 points to lead Elizabethton, while Tori Roberts had 14 points. Kelsie Winters and McKenna Norris had five points apiece.
Johnson County 78, Cloudland 42 (Boys)
The ‘Landers were unable to keep pace with the Johnson County offensive attack on Tuesday night.
Bentley Gilbert led the way for Cloudland with nine points. Hunter Shell and Robert Leeper added eight points a piece for the ‘Landers.
Blake Atwood had 28 points for Johnson County to lead all scorers.
Cloudland 44, Johnson County 34 (Girls)
The Lady ‘Landers took control and never looked back in the fourth quarter.
CHS led by one point at the break, but slowly pulled away in the second half.
Megan Lunsford had a team-high 12 points to lead CHS, while Trinity Vines and Stacia Wilson tallied 11 points apiece.
Taylor Parsons had 10 points to pace the Longhorns.
