Elizabethton 9, Unicoi County 4
The Cyclones pulled away late to take a district win Tuesday.
After UC held a 3-2 lead after an inning of play, EHS tied things up in the fourth and then plated three runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to take the win.
Steven Meadows had five RBI with two hits to lead EHS. Aliester Sumner had a hit and an RBI. Rhett Slagle finished with a triple, while Bryson Rowland, JD Hooks, and Justin Whitehead recorded a hit apiece.
On the mound, Rowland struck out 10 batters in four innings of work and allowed just three earned runs on three hits.
South Greene 15, Hampton 2
Hampton 8, South Greene 6 (Monday)
The Bulldogs were unable to keep pace with South Greene on Tuesday.
After Hampton evened things up at 1-1 in the second, SG regained the lead with a single run in the third and five more in the fourth. HHS kept fighting but was unable to get a rally going.
Cash Royston had two hits and an RBI, while Landon Buchanan had two hits. Cade Nelson added a hit and an RBI for the Bulldogs.
Jaden Kuhn, Elisha Henson, and Gabriel Lyons each finished with a hit.
In Monday’s contest, Hampton jumped out with two runs in the second and six more in the fourth and held on to take the win.
Noah Nichols had two hits and two RBI, while Kuhn knocked in three RBI with a hit. Henson had two hits for HHS.
North Greene 10, Cloudland 0
Cloudland was unable to keep pace with the North Greene offensive attack on Tuesday.
Colin Davis and Bryson Peppers each recorded a hit for the ‘Landers. Walker Gouge and Jacob Stinett also reached base.
Chuckey-Doak 5, HV 5
Chuckey-Doak 9, HV 2
The Warriors dropped a pair of tough district games Tuesday afternoon.
In the first game, HV jumped out to a 3-0 lead through three complete innings before holding a 4-3 lead after five. The Black Knights took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
The Warriors battled back in the seventh getting the tying run on base, but were unable to keep the rally going.
Drew Blevins had two hits and two RBI, and Grady Goulds finished with three RBI and a hit. Mason Belt and Carlos Lopez each added a hit.
On the mound, Goulds struck out five batters and allowed just four earned runs on five hits.
In the second game, HV was unable to battle back from an early deficit.
CD plated single runs in each of the first three innings before adding four in the fourth. The Warriors continued to fight pushing runs across home plate in the fourth and fifth innings, but were unable to rally.
Goulds had a hit and an RBI, while Blevins finished with a hit.
Softball
Cloudland 19, University High 4
The Lady ‘Landers rolled to a district on Tuesday afternoon.
Cloudland opened the game with 15 runs in the first and never looked back.
Reagan Turbyfill and Abriella Jones went 3-for-3 and recorded two RBI apiece. Savannah McCoury had two hits and finished with three RBI, while Layken Blair had two hits and two RBI. Regan Blair added two hits and an RBI.
Unaka 18, Johnson County 7
The Lady Rangers picked up a nonconference win on the road Tuesday afternoon.
The Rangers jumped out to a 7-0 lead going to the bottom of the third before Johnson County plated six runs. UHS, however, responded with three runs in the top of the fourth and slowly pulled away from the Lady Longhorns.
Kacie Bare went 3-for-4 with four RBI to lead Unaka. Kimberly Profitt and Katlyn Dugger each added two hits and an RBI, while Ariana Collins had three RBI and a hit.
Keidance Story and Saylor Conner finished with two RBI apiece.
In the pitching circle, Proffitt struck out 12 batters and allowed four earned runs on nine hits.
David Crockett 5, Elizabethton 2
The Lady Cyclones were unable to answer a trio of late runs from Crockett on Tuesday.
After the game entered the fifth tied at 1-1, the Lady Pioneers plated three runs to take the lead in the home side of the fifth. Elizabethton was able to get one of the runs back in the top of the sixth but was unable to even things up.
Lilly McDuffie had a hit and an RBI, while Jozey Reece added a hit. Piper Bennett tallied an RBI.
South Greene 11, Hampton 0
The Lady Bulldogs fell short on the road Tuesday as South Greene used a big third inning to take the win.
Emma Birchfield and Briley Davis each had a hit for Hampton.
