Tuesday Round-up: Rangers, Lady Rangers Take Wins Over Twin Springs; Hampton Takes Varsity Sweep In District Opener

Hampton 60, Chuckey-Doak 49
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out early and kept the Lady Black Knights at bay to win the District 1-2A opener on Tuesday night.

Hampton jumped out to an 18-9 lead behind a 10-point quarter from Hannah Smith. The Lady Bulldogs pushed the lead to 29-13 at the half.
Chuckey-Doak was able to trim into the HHS lead in the third, but Hampton was able to secure the win in the fourth.

Smith led Hampton with 25 points, while Piper Helle had 10 points.

Brea Hicks and Ella Estep added seven points apiece. Faye Carrico scored five points.

Unaka 63, Twin Springs (Va) 30
It was all Unaka on Tuesday night.

The Lady Rangers used nine first-quarter points from Michelle Shields to jump out to a 16-7 lead in the first eight minutes and held the Lady Titans to just two field goals in the second quarter as UHS pushed the lead to 37-13 at the break.

Shields had 23 points to lead Unaka. Kalli Shepard had 16 points, while Katlyn Dugger had seven points. Lauren Lund added six points.

Science Hill 66, Elizabethton 56
The Lady Cyclones were unable to overcome a quick start by the Lady Hilltoppers.

Science Hill jumped out to an 18-10 advantage after eight minutes and pushed the lead to 15 early in the second. EHS battled back to trim the deficit to seven points and trailed 36-26 at the half.

In the second half, Elizabethton kept fighting and was able to get within six points, but was unable to get back in front of Science Hill.

Kayelyn Nave led Elizabethton with 14 points. Jamira Smalls added 10 points, while Peyton McGee scored nine points.

Boys
Hampton 81, Chuckey-Doak 43
Hampton hit the gas early and never looked back in the District 1-2A opener.

The Bulldogs raced out to a 23-15 lead after a quarter of play and held a 49-27 advantage at the break. Hampton continued to have the momentum in the third by outscoring CD 21-9.

Chase Davenport and Bryce Fagan had 16 points apiece to lead Hampton. Tuff Robinson had 15 points. Jayden Nave added 13 points.

Unaka 60, Twin Springs (Va.) 40
The Rangers methodically pulled away and left no doubt in the fourth.

Unaka took a 13-9 lead after a quarter of play and pushed the lead to 27-19 at the half. After holding a 38-27 lead entering the fourth, the Rangers outscored the Titans 22-13 in the fourth.

Rylan Crabtree had 21 points to lead the way, while TJ Good had 15 points. John Hardin scored nine points. Austin Lambert added seven points.

Science Hill 87, Elizabethton 68
The Cyclones were unable to keep pace with the torrid Hilltopper offensive attack on Tuesday.

Science Hill took a 21-13 lead after a quarter of play and maintained a 44-25 lead at the half.

Elizabethton, however, kept battling and was able to trim the deficit in a back-and-forth second half.

Andrew Barnett led Elizabethton with 14 points. Zach Wallin added 13 points, while Hudson Pate scored nine points. Nathan Bailey and Jordan Buckles tallied eight points apiece.
