Tuesday Round-up: Shoun Powers Unaka Past Hampton

A flawless performance set the stage for the Lady Rangers.

Sadie Shoun pitched a perfect game in five innings as Unaka picked up a district win over their county foe.

Unaka jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning, and never looked back despite a hard-fought effort from the Lady Bulldogs.

Shoun struck out 13-of-15 batters she faced in the game.
Lyndie Ramsey, Alana Parsons, Kendall Bare, and Trinity Bowers each had two hits.

Baseball
Sullivan East 4, Elizabethton 1
The Cyclones were unable to answer a trio of late-game runs on Tuesday.

Hayden Nave hit a double to left field to score Wesley Shankles to even the game at 1-1 in the home side of the fifth.

However, East regained the lead in the top of the sixth with a single run and added two more in the top of the seventh.

Elizabethton was unable to get anything going in the bottom of the seventh to even things up again.

Cade Russell was 2-for-2 at the plate, while Gage Treadway went 2-for-3. Peyton Johnson, Nave, and Shankles each added a hit.

Treadway allowed just one earned run on two hits on the mound with just over five innings of work. He recorded nine strikeouts.

University High 9, Hampton 5
The Bulldogs came up short on Tuesday in Johnson City.

Hampton opened the scoring as Collin Morgan hit a hard single to drive Morgan Lyons across the plate in the top of the first. UH, however, plated five runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead.

Hampton continued to battle with single runs in the third and fourth, but University High answered with runs of their own to secure the win.

Lyons and Morgan had three hits apiece to lead the Bulldogs, while Caleb Royston, McKinley Kuhn, and Conor Jones had two hits apiece.

Chance Point and Brody Hicks each added a hit apiece.
Josh Whitson allowed just three earned runs on 10 hits in just over five innings of work.

Soccer
Elizabethton 6, Volunteer 0
A hat trick led the way for the Cyclones.

Isaac Hurley had three goals along with an assist to power EHS to a win over Volunteer. Riley Vernon had two goals for the Orange and Black.

Nathan Tshuma had a goal, while Mason Williams recorded the shutout.
