Tuesday Roundup: Cyclones, Lady Cyclones Roll To Win; Lady Rangers Win Thriller

Elizabethton 6, Sullivan East 0
The Cyclones slowly pulled away for a win on Tuesday evening.

EHS took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second and added single runs in the third and fourth innings before securing the win with two more in the sixth.

Ryan Kasting was 2-for-3 with two RBI, while JD Hooks was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Elijah Ambrose added an RBI for EHS. Carter Reece was 2-for-4.

Rhett Slagle picked up the win as he went six innings and allowed just one hit with nine strikeouts.

Johnson County 5, Happy Valley 2
The Warriors were unable to rally late.

Johnson County held a 3-2 lead entering the sixth before the Longhorns added two more in the sixth. HV battled, but was unable to get a rally going in the seventh.

Greg Visser and Mason Foister had a hit and an RBI for HV, while Lane Parker added a hit.

Grady Goulds struck out five batters in 3.2 innings of work and allowed three earned runs on six hits, while Ty Johnson struck out four batters in 2.1 innings of work while allowed just one earned run on three hits.

Elizabethton 21, Johnson County 0
The Lady Cyclones jumped out early and never looked back.

Brook Sparks and Lacey Gobble had three hits and two RBI apiece, while Piper Bennett and Ava Hanson had two hits and two RBI each. Sadie Williams had two RBI on one hit. Adrian Heading added three hits and an RBI for EHS.

Gobble picked up the win in the circle as she struck out 11 batters in four innings of work.

University High 14, Happy Valley 4
The Lady Warriors split a pair of games on Tuesday afternoon with a nonconference foe.

In game one, UH was able to pull away with a big third inning.

Emily Miller went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Lady Warriors, while Tierra Collins had a hit and an RBI. Trinity Bowers also added a hit.

Bowers struck out nine batters in the circle for HV.

Unaka 11, Chuckey Doak 10
The Lady Rangers opened the season with a thrilling extra-innings win as Mollie Buckles hit an infield single to plate the winning run in the top of the ninth.

Mikena Blackwell and Buckles each had four hits, while Brooklyn Campbell added three hits. Kacie Bare, Devalynn Harter, Katlyn Dugger, and Buckles each had two RBI.

In the pitching circle, Kimberly Profitt recorded the win as she allowed seven earned runs on 10 hits in 5.1 innings of work.
